Integrating multiple electromagnetic data to map spatiotemporal variability of soil salinity in Kairouan region, Central Tunisia

Soil salinization is a major problem affecting soils and threatening agricultural sustainability in arid semi-arid regions, which makes it necessary to establish an efficient strategy manage soil salinity confront economic challenges that arise from it. Saline recovery involving drainage of shallow saline groundwater the removal salts by natural rainfall or irrigation are good strategies for reclamation salty soil. To develop suitable management reclamation, essential improve assessment process/mechanism adopt new approaches techniques. This study mapped recovered area 7200 m2 assess verify variations space time Kairouan region Central Tunisia, taking into account thickness materials. Two electromagnetic conductivity meters (EM38 EM31) were used measure electrical saturated soil-paste extract (ECe) apparent (ECa). Multiple linear regression was established between ECe ECa, revealed ECa-EM38 optimal prediction surface soils. Salinity maps demonstrated spatial structure interest relatively unchanged but varied temporally. Variation at greater than depth. These findings can not only be track their significance field also help identify temporal features salinity, thus improving efficiency management.
